A Spot of Good News

I have taken care of one of the problems that was causing my truck to use so much gas. I have 2 new front tires, and I must say, the truck drives like a new one again.

It no longer fights me to stay straight, doesn't try to make right turns on its own any longer, and actually has better gas mileage.

It wasn't easy getting here though. Let me tell you why.

My truck has P235/75R16 size tires on it. As some of you may or may not know, this was a popular size tire back in the early 90's. However, auto manufacturers have now made a 16" tire the standard as far as SUV's go, and once that happened, the tire companies pretty much stopped stocking 15" tires.

Or that particular size of 15" tires anyway.

My mom called me a couple of weeks ago and told me that she has 4 of the tires I need. I was elated. Not only did I not have to look all over town to find the tires, but I got them for free too.

Last Friday I went to her house and picked up the tires and drove straight to Big O. I had them tell me the price to get the tires mounted and balanced, and how much it would cost to dispose of the old tires, which came out to be roughly $41 for 2 tires.

This was going to be great. I would get the tires for free, and it was going to be cheaper than I thought to get them put on.

So I waited. I was in the waiting room when the guy working on my truck comes in and tells me that I can't have those tires on my truck. I ask why and he tells me that each tire has more than 1 puncture mark in the sidewall. Looks as though someone had taken out their anger on those poor tires.

What was I to do now?

As I said, the size tires I have are hard to come by used at any tire store, because they are in high demand, and almost every one that comes in goes right back out again the same day.

The guys checked for me, even though we all knew what the outcome would be. Of course they had no tires in that size...they never do anymore.

I told the guys to put the old tires back on, and that I would have to risk a blowout or whatever else the tires had in store for me.

Before they put the old ones back on, the manager came out and got the model information of my truck, then went to look something up. He came back out with a suggestion that we go to smaller tires, which were actually supposed to have come standard on the truck to begin with.

It only cost me $15 more, so I got them put on, and I will going back soon to get the back tires replaced for an even better ride.

Here's to sticking it to the man through better gas mileage :)

The End of the Road

Well, the time has come to say goodbye to the last male friend I have.

I'm not exactly sure what I did to make him no longer speak to me, but it's his choice and not mine. I can only say that I regret no decisions I have made and stand by them to the end.

I will miss him though. He has to be the only guy I have ever known who had never double crossed me at all. He was always a good friend...even through the times when I wasn't.

If you ever read this Scott, I hope everything goes the way you want it to in your life, and I'm sad to see you go like this.

Myself, I am going to focus more on myself and my loved ones to make their future and lives better.

Just remember that even though you probably no longer consider me a friend, you'll always be a friend in my book.

Thanks for all the good times, and for being there for me when I was going through hell. I appreciate that more than you know.

Take care man.

Seatbelts

Let me say this...I know setbelts save lives. I do.

However, I find it hard to remember to do so every time I get into my truck. One of the only ways I remember is if the Love of My Life reminds me, which she does whenever we get into any vehicle together.

It's not that I have a death wish....I don't. I just have a hard time remembering to buckle up.

That, and I don't like being told what to do. Now that it is a law, it makes me want to break it even more. I know, rebellious as hell...lol.

I don't like people telling me I absolutely "have" to do something because I know that by succumbing to their demands, I will be letting them order me around, and that isn't freedom.

I have always felt that a person should be free to make their own decisions, so it angered me when they made seatbelts a law.

However, I also know I need to change that outlook, especially if the future turns out the way I would like. I guess you would need to be around to have a future, and since I am wanting the rest of my life with the Love of My Life, I should be less rebellious and more thoughtful of my life and the lives of others.

I have promised that I would try to give the seatbelt issue, particularly the part where I need to be buckling up, more attention.

I also need to make sure the others are working properly, and definitely get them fixed if they aren't.

Wish me luck in this, as I need all I can get to overcome this issue.

New PC Program

Last year a friend of mine upgraded from GirlFriend 6.0 to Wife 1.0 and found that it's a memory hog leaving very little system resources available for other applications. He is now noticing that Wife 1.0 is also spawning Child Processes which are further consuming valuable resources. No mention of this particular phenomena was included in the product brochure or the documentation, though other users have informed him that this is to be expected due to the nature of the application.

Not only that, Wife 1.0 installs itself such that it is always launched at system initialization, where it can monitor all other system activity. He's finding that some applications such as PokerNight 10.3, BeerBash 2.5, and PubNight 7.0 are no longer able to run in the system at all, crashing the system when selected (even though they always worked fine before). During installation, Wife 1.0 provides no option as to the installation of undesired Plug-Ins such as MotherInLaw 55.8 and BrotherInLaw Beta release. Also, system performance seems to diminish with each passing day.

Some features he'd like to see in the upcoming wife 2.0.

  1. a "Don't remind me again" button
  2. a Minimize button
  3. An install shield feature that allows Wife 2.0 be installed with the option to uninstall at any time without the loss of cache and other system resources
  4. An option to run the network driver in promiscuous mode which would allow the system's hardware probe feature to be much more useful.

I myself decided to avoid the headaches associated with Wife 1.0 by sticking with Girlfriend 7.0. Even here, however, I found many problems. Apparently you cannot install Girlfriend 7.0 on top of Girlfriend 6.0. You must uninstall Girlfriend 6.0 first. Other users say this is a long standing bug that I should have known about. Apparently the versions of Girlfriend have conficts over shared use of the I/O port. You think they would have fixed such a stupid bug by now. To make matters worse, The uninstall program for Girlfriend 6.0 doesn't work very well leaving undesirable traces of the application in the system. Another thing -- all versions of Girlfriend continually popup little annoying messages about the advantages of upgrading to Wife 1.0.

Bug Warning

Wife 1.0 has an undocumented bug. If you try to install Mistress 1.1 before uninstalling Wife 1.0, Wife 1.0 will delete MSMoney files before doing the uninstall itself. Then Mistress 1.1 will refuse to install, claiming insufficient resources.

Bug work-arounds: To avoid this bug, try installing Mistress 1.1 on a different system and never run any file transfer applications such as Laplink 6.0. Also, beware of similar shareware applications that have been known to carry viruses that may affect Wife 1.0. Another solution would be to run Mistress 1.1 via a UseNet provider under an anonymous name. Here again, beware of the viruses which can accidently be downloaded from the UseNet.

Tech Support Suggestions

These are very common problem men complain about, but is mostly due to a primary misconception. Many people upgrade from Girlfriend 6.0 to Wife 1.0 with the idea that Wife 1.0 is merely a Utilities & Entertainment program. Wife 1.0 is indeed an operating system and designed by its creator to run everything.

It is unlikely you would be able to purge Wife 1.0 and still convert back to Girlfriend 6.0. Hidden operating files within your system would cause Girlfriend 6.0 to emulate Wife 1.0 so nothing is gained. It is impossible to uninstall, delete, or purge the program files from the system once installed. You cannot go back to Girlfriend 6.0 because Wife 1.0 is not designed to do this.

Some have tried to install Girlfriend 7.0 or Wife 2.0 but end up with more problems than the original system. Look in your manual under "Warnings - Alimony/Child support". I recommend you keep Wife 1.0 and deal with the situation.

I suggest installing background application program C:\YES DEAR to alleviate software augmentation. Having installed Wife 1.0 myself, I might also suggest you read the entire section regarding General Partnership Faults (GPFs). You must assume all responsibility for faults and problems that might occur, regardless of their cause. The best course of action will be to enter the command C:\APOLOGIZE. In any case avoid excessive use of C:\YES DEAR because ultimately you may have to give the APOLOGIZE command before the operating system will return to normal. The system will run smoothly as long as you take the blame for all the GPFs.

Wife 1.0 is a great program, but very high-maintenance. Consider buying additional software to improve the performance of Wife 1.0. I recommend Flowers 3.1 and Diamonds 2K. Do not, under any circumstances, install Secretary with Short Skirt 3.3. This is not a supported application for Wife 1.0 and is likely to cause irreversible damage to the operating system.

Best of Luck,

A Light At The End Of The Tunnel?

Whew!!!!

This whole upgrade has been one hell of a grueling situation. Hundreds of calls a night with issues that sometimes can't be fixed is very mentally taxing.

However, over the course of this week, things have started to look up. Every night we have less and less calls waiting by midnight, and tonight, since about 1:30, we finally hit 0 calls waiting.

This is the first time in about a month that there have been no calls in queue before I get off of work.

Finally, a chance to get back to my blog and share some more of my life with y'all :)

Hopefully the content will still be edgy and funny, but honestly, I need a rest before I can really be witty again....lol.

Cocking-a-loogie

Ok....this is the first and only warning to anyone who still may read this:

If you are easily offended by talk about sex, or sex in general, don't read this entry!

I used to be an avid watcher and collector of porn. Since I have met the Love of My Life, I haven't had the need for the porn.

I was in a conversation with someone the other day about porn movies and the topic of choice was women who "hawk loogies" on a guys cock. You know what I mean....the ones who actually make the spitting sound and then spit on the cock before they start the sucking. What's the deal with that???

I find the idea of the blowjob fascinating, and I try to get one whenever time permits. However, I've never had a woman who makes the sound and spits on it before she starts the deed. Mine has always been well lubed without the sound.

I guess it bothers me a bit because the sound is kinda nasty....I mean....women aren't supposed to spit anyways....at least that's what I was taught....lol.

Maybe I'm overreacting (which some would say I do a lot), but I felt I had to address the issue of what I now call "cocking-a-loogie".

Mojo No Mo!

It is official. I am forever done with Louisville Mojo. Tonight I erased my profile, never to return.

Mainly, the reason I did it is because I have been bored with it for months, and I figured it was about time to finally get rid of it.

Another very important reason is because I have already found the person who means the most in the world to me, and in that reason, I shouldn't be on a site like that...I should be with her.

So long mojo....it's been real....it's been fun....but to be honest, it hasn't been real fun.

It's Been Awhile

It's been awhile since I was able to blog last. The company I work for has been doing upgrades to the system, and as a result, call volume has increased like you wouldn't believe.

Most days I go into work and there are already over 100 people in queue waiting to speak to any one of the 80 of us on the phones. Needless to say, this has affected my time to even think about blogging, much less being able to do it.

Like always, I will update whenever I can, and will hopefully get back to the level I was at before.

Until then, I hope you all take care, and I'll see ya soon

Been Kinda Busy!

Well, it's been well over a week since my last blog post. The reason for this is upgrades. The company I work for is making some changes to their service, and it has made us a very busy place. I hardly have time to even read my email anymore, and so far, there seems to be no end in sight.

I hope things resume normally soon, because a lot of my co-workers are starting to really feel the stress, as we all are, but some are starting to crack.

I'll keep you all informed of what's going on, but don't be surprised if I don't blog normally until these issues are resolved.
